Shaorin Rem was born in Shinto, and from a young age showed a natural aptitude for metalworking. Her parents were blacksmiths, and they passed down their knowledge and skills to her. Rem worked hard to improve upon their techniques, and by the time she was a teenager she had already established herself as one of the best smiths in the town. As she grew older, Rem's reputation continued to grow. She was approached by Samurai from both Clan Yurami and Clan Taoka, who were impressed by the quality of her work. However, Rem was determined to remain independent and continue working for herself.
Rem's reputation as a tough and uncompromising individual grew as well. She took it upon herself to punish thieves and other troublemakers in Shinto, often using her own brand of justice. While Ozaki Yoshirami warned her to go easy on the troublemakers and let the Samurai handle it, Rem had trouble standing by when crime happened near her. Despite her tough exterior, Rem takes great pride in her work and is a true artisan. She spends long hours at her forge, crafting exquisite pieces of armor, weapons, and other metalwork. Her shop, Rem's Smithy, is a popular destination for travelers and locals alike, who seek out her high-quality craftsmanship.
While some Samurai have tried to propose to her several times, no one has been man or woman enough for her. Rem is fiercely independent and has no interest in settling down with anyone. She is content to spend her days at her forge, creating works of art with her own two hands.
