Gargaros

The Black Behemoth

Description

Gargaros, known in draconic myth as the Black Behemoth, is a draconic deity of chaos, ambition, and ruin. Born as a son of Eizzoath, the First Dragon and progenitor of all dragonkind, Gargaros was marked from his creation by insatiable desire and boundless envy. Forever eclipsed by the radiant legacy of his progenitor, Gargaros embraced the path of pure chaotic evil, becoming a living embodiment of discord and unrestrained ambition.

Despised and distrusted by dragonkind, Gargaros was ultimately cast out of Talmar, the ancestral realm of dragons, and banished to the shadow moon Kvilla, a dark celestial body orbiting above the mortal world of Midora. From this exile, he continues to exert a subtle yet dangerous influence upon both shadow and mortal realms, forever seeking to spread instability while avoiding the united wrath of dragonkind.

Gargaros’ true draconic form is unknown, lost to myth and fearful conjecture. Ancient draconic texts and fragmented abyssal visions speak only of a colossal winged shadow, vast enough to eclipse the sky and blot out stars, its outline shifting as though reality itself recoils from defining it.

Among mortal worshipers, Gargaros is most commonly depicted in a humanoid aspect. In this form, he appears as a towering man with blackened, obsidian-dark skin and eyes glowing with a cold amber light. His body is adorned with decorative iron plates and cruel ornamentation, symbolizing dominance through oppression. Upon his head rests an iron crown, shaped like two sweeping horn-like arcs that frame his scalp—an echo of his draconic heritage and his defiant claim to sovereignty.

This depiction is believed to be a deliberate false shape, crafted to inspire awe and terror rather than truth.

History

Gargaros was born during the Titanic Age, one of the earliest offspring of Eizzoath. Where other draconic progeny embodied wisdom, guardianship, or balance, Gargaros inherited an unrestrained hunger—for power, for dominion, and for recognition beyond that of his father.

His growing ambition and disregard for draconic law eventually led to his banishment from Talmar. The ruling conclaves of dragonkind deemed him too dangerous, his chaotic influence threatening the fragile equilibrium Eizzoath sought to instill among his descendants.

Cast adrift, Gargaros found himself bound to Kvilla, the shadow moon suspended above Midora. There, he entered into an eternal struggle with Arira, an Archangel who claims dominion over the shadow realm. Their conflict is not one of open war, but of manipulation, sabotage, and prolonged destabilization.

While Gargaros believes he exploits Arira’s ambition to perpetuate chaos within her domain, it is widely believed among celestial scholars that Arira knowingly plays along, keeping Gargaros’ attention fixed upon Kvilla and the shadow realm—ensuring that his gaze never fully turns toward Midora.

Personality

Gargaros is cunning, patient, and profoundly malicious. Unlike creatures of mindless destruction, he prefers long games, sowing chaos through manipulation rather than overt conquest. His ambition is endless, but it is tempered by a bitter self-awareness: he knows that direct action would draw the wrath of beings far older and stronger than himself.

He is driven by envy—toward Eizzoath, toward dragonkind, and toward any force that represents balance or harmony. Gargaros delights not merely in destruction, but in corruption, seeking to twist ideals, loyalties, and ambitions until they collapse under their own weight.

Worshipers

Gargaros is worshiped primarily by dragon worshipers, draconic cultists, exiled dragonkin and mortals obsessed with draconic supremacy. These cults revere Gargaros not as a protector, but as a liberator through chaos. They believe that the ordered hierarchy is a lie imposed by many, and that Gargaros represents the true, untamed nature of dragons.

Rituals dedicated to Gargaros often involve iron symbolism, sacrificial destruction of sacred sites, and rites performed during eclipses or under Kvilla’s shadow.

Eternal Rivalry

Gargaros’ eternal conflict is with Arira, Archangel of Kvilla. Their rivalry is subtle and insidious, marked by manipulation rather than open battle. Each seeks to destabilize the other’s influence without triggering forces that would annihilate them both.

This struggle maintains a precarious balance within the shadow realm. Should either gain true dominance—or should their rivalry end—the consequences could spill catastrophically into Midora.

Abilities

  • Shadow Form – His true draconic body can manifest as a winged shadow of immense size, allowing him to move through darkness, evade detection, and strike fear into any who glimpse him.
  • Avatar Projection – Gargaros can manifest avatars to interact with worshipers or manipulate events without fully leaving Kvilla.
  • Domination Magic - She excels in magic that suppresses free will, bends instincts, and enforces submission.
  • Strategic Manipulation - Anennepher is a master of turning enemies against one another through promises of survival or power.

Possessions / Relics

Few relics are attributed directly to Anennepher, However, her worshipers claim to wield cursed tools said to contain her powers.

  • The Iron Crown of the Behemoth - A relic symbolizing dominion through tyranny.
  • Shards of Corrupted Draconic Essence - Used by cultists in dark rites and claimed to hold various powers.

Legacy

Gargaros stands as one of the greatest cautionary figures in draconic mythology. To dragons, he is the embodiment of what happens when ambition is allowed to eclipse wisdom. To mortals, he is a distant but ever-present threat—one whose attention, if ever fully turned toward Midora, could plunge the world into apocalyptic chaos.

His legacy is not conquest, but enduring menace—a shadow that looms, waiting for the balance of the cosmos to falter.
