Harkel Venn

Captain of the 9th Company

Captain Harkel Venn is a battle-hardened brute with a sharp mind for destruction and a deeper understanding of metal than most men will ever know. Once a blacksmith by trade, Harkel spent his early years forging blades, horseshoes, and siege fittings for whoever had the coin. Gruff and strong as an ox, he prided himself on his work—until a commission for a local noble went awry. When the noble’s henchmen came to "teach him a lesson," they didn’t expect the smith to be tougher than the anvil he hammered on. The blood spilled that night earned him a death sentence.

But the Dominion Church saw another use for him. Given the choice between the noose or the ranks of the Redeemed, Harkel took the latter without hesitation. Shipped to Rivermond and placed within the 9th Company of the Redeemed Legion, he found unexpected purpose under Commander Karina Kessler’s watchful eye. What began as a simple post as an arms master grew into a calling—his practical mind and raw strength making him invaluable in training troops and crafting field-ready gear.

Now, as a Captain, Harkel Venn commands the siege-breakers: the blunt force of the 9th Company. He leads with grit, overseeing the deployment of war hounds, explosive charges, and experimental siege weaponry. His methods are unconventional, brutal, and often improvised—but undeniably effective. With a war hammer on his back and soot still under his nails, Harkel fights like he forges: with fire, force, and a craftsman’s precision. His soldiers trust him, not because he inspires with words, but because he stands beside them when the walls come crashing down.
