Bloodfire Tonic

Brewed from the volatile heart-flesh of the rare Emberthorn Pithfruit, this crimson elixir pulses faintly within its glass vial, warming the air around it. Alchemists describe it as “boiled adrenaline mixed with living flame.” Originating deep underground, Bloodfire Tonic is known for granting temporary resistance to searing heat—but at the cost of warping the mind.

Once a tool of desperate warriors and flame-worshipping zealots, Bloodfire Tonic is now sold in carefully labeled bottles in potion and alchemy shops across the realms, particularly in places with ties to fire magic or volcanic terrain.

Properties:

When you drink this potion (an action), you gain the following benefits and side effects:

  • You gain resistance to fire damage for 10 minutes.
  • You must immediately roll on the Short-Term Madness table (Dungeon Master’s Guide, pg. 259). The effects last for 1 minute.

The potion’s effects are immediate and do not require concentration. The tonic’s fiery taste burns down the throat and leaves the drinker sweating profusely, even in cold environments.
