Lashar House of Learning

The Lashar House of Learning was the small but enduring school of Harvest Town, founded more than a century ago by Faelar Lume in honor of Lashar Aumersair, co-founder of Harvest Town and the younger brother of Lashan Aumersair, the would-be conqueror of the Dalelands. Named in Lashar’s honor after his passing, the Lashar House served as both a school and archive—a place where the town’s youth were educated and its records preserved.

The building stood near the eastern edge of town, beside Faelar’s cottage and shaded by several white-barked trees from his orchard. It was a two-room stone structure with ivy creeping up the walls and a slate roof that Faelar repaired himself every few years.

Scheduling

There were four levels to the LHL education plan. Each level had one six-hour class every other day, with no classes scheduled on the 9th or 10th days of the week. For humans, 4-6 year-olds were typically in the 1st grade, 7-9 year-olds were usually in the 2nd grade, 10-12 year-olds typically were in the 3rd grade, and 13-15 year-olds were usually in the 4th grade. Education didn't usually go beyond that point because most children were working full-time by their 16th year.

1st Grade: Morning-noon on the 1st, 3rd, 5th & 7th days of the week.
2nd Grade: Morning-noon on the 2nd, 4th, 6th & 8th days of the week.
3rd Grade: Noon-evening on the 1st, 3rd, 5th & 7th days of the week.
4th Grade: Noon-evening on the 2nd, 4th, 6th & 8th days of the week.
