Avicus Nexentrum III

Emperor

Emperor Avicus was raised with the strict beliefs of the Nexentrum royal family, and his mounting responsibilities as the leader of one of Aurora’s greatest nations weighs heavily on him. Avicus is a dark, clever, and often paranoid king. Fiercely nationalistic and proud of his heritage, the king harbors a disdain for outsiders and their challenges to imperial rule; he often has emissaries thrown from the borders or imprisoned until a replacement is sent to barter for their release. Avicus does genuinely wish to protect the lives of his people and be remembered as the best of his bloodline. However, civil unrest is brewing, and his frustrations with the Aegis Ascendancy only intensify his forceful demeanor.

WIP

Emperor Avicus Nexentrum

  • Successor to King Lucius, Avicus inherited not only the throne but the complex legacy of the Promised War and the Treaty of Aegis.

  • Raised under the strict tenets of Nexentrum royal tradition, Avicus internalized the ideals of strength, order, and imperial supremacy from an early age. Taught by the highest militaristic leaders of the court.

Character & Demeanor

  • Avicus is a dark and calculating ruler—brilliant, but often clouded by paranoia and suspicion.

  • He is fiercely nationalistic, proud of his bloodline and deeply loyal to the empire’s founding ideals.

  • Holds a deep disdain for outsiders, particularly foreign diplomats and emissaries who question Nexentrum authority.

    • Many are imprisoned or expelled with force, and sometimes detained until another emissary is sent to negotiate their release.

Burden of Rule

  • The weight of leadership rests heavily on Avicus, who presides over one of Aurora’s most powerful and volatile nations.

  • Though cold in temperament, Avicus genuinely desires to protect his people and leave behind a legacy worthy of his lineage.

  • His reign is marked by an obsession with control—over territory, narrative, and dissent.

Brewing Unrest

  • Civil unrest simmers beneath the empire’s surface, as regions grow restless under tightening imperial grip.

  • The fractured remains of Wakovan resistance and internal dissatisfaction threaten to disrupt stability.

  • Avicus views such unrest not as failure, but as betrayal—his paranoia turning even allies into suspects.

Tensions with the Aegis Ascendancy

  • Relations with the Aegis Ascendancy—the ideological and political force enforcing post-war order—are growing tense.

  • Avicus perceives their oversight and diplomatic meddling as an affront to imperial sovereignty.

  • His frustrations with the Ascendancy fuel his increasingly aggressive and isolationist policies, further isolating Nexentrum from the global stage.

Legacy in Question

  • Avicus is determined to be the greatest of his bloodline—stronger than Lucius, wiser than Kytheon.

  • Yet the path he walks is treacherous:

Can an empire forged in conquest be preserved by force alone?
Or will Avicus's paranoia and pride become the cracks in its foundation?
