Billie arrives home to his family already enjoying pizza they ordered in. The atmosphere is choked as Mr Dean can't share his day with his children, so they don't share theirs either.
On his way to his room, Billie catches Marcus watching static on the TV. Marcus, getting caught, switches the channel to The Polka Dot Door, just when the Polkaroo makes his appearance. Billie would recognise the other kids talking about a "Unknown", but doesn't make any connection.
Billie sees through Marcus's deflection and gets him to reveal he was looking for jellyfish in the static. He remembers Emma saying jellyfish being a thing in the spirit world. When pressed, Marcus reveals he was told by a boy named Tyler. Billie looks for himself at little dots on the TV, only which are "eaten" by needles. Marcus doesn't see. Billie tries flexing his magic only for Marcus to be completely oblivious.
Going to bed, Billie tries to channel and call upon spirits. He gets an answer from a big black and green spider living in the corner of his room. Billie requests the spider's help on the subject of magic but she is quite unapologetically opposed to him making changes. He calls her Wisteria, after a poisonous flower. But after he goes to sleep, he wakes up and Wisteria is hanging above him. She jump down from her thread and bites him. Billie immediately goes to grab her before she scuttles away, but ends up crushing her to death. Then he passes out only to wake up the next morning feeling awful.
His dad takes him to the local clinic to see Dr Noone. She examines him, takes his blood for toxicology, and keeps him for observation.
Her daughter, Unknown, also his junior classmate comes to visit her mom. They discus Billie's missed day of school and Desiree's family situation. She invites him to stop by the hotel to hang out sometime.
Billie gets released and goes to the Library. He tries to summon spirits again, but in frustration knocks over a bookshelf. He then tries his magic on the librarian, making her "forget he was ever there" temporarily. He then goes to visit Emma to tell about everything that happened. She guides him into the woods to show him the white mold of Pi'chaum that grows on blueberries and leaves him with a Buddhist thought problem.
On his way home, he runs into Reiji and Joss. They share with him stuff about the crystal they discovered with Henry, indicating they had plans, but Henry blew them off.
