The one time Burgomeister of Berez. He had Marina killed to protect her immortal soul from Strahd von Zarovich, he was killed by Strahd in return and condemned to remain in Berez as a ghost, trapped by his own guilt.
When discovering that Ireena Kolyana lived and that his actions, though harsh, did save Marina's soul he was finally able to find peace and move on to the afterlife.
