Mon-Kei

Monk (Arctic)

Mon-Kei is a world-class acrobat who fights with the abilities of a martial artist that can channel coldness and ice. He has taken a garrison command for the Waterdeep Griffon Cavalry, scouting the northeast region of the Western Heartlands out of the Mountain Lodge, on the border of the Savage Frontier.

He describes his practice as that of "an Arctic Monk" (what is "arctic"?) and he retains memories and knowledge that span worlds beyond our own.  Mon-Kei was trapped within a timeless space for five centuries, along with Ujio - released by and joining Our Party. This stasis may have unlocked some of his unusual abilities in tapping into the frosty powers.

Beyond his tremendous skill using his body for acrobatics and combat, he is also a skilled calligrapher in creating beautiful documents and texts.  Like his friend Ujio, the lost time seems to have robbed him of memory and skills - which he is regaining quickly alongside his adventuring companions.


Personality

Water can flow, or it can crash. Try for the first, but always be prepared for the second.

(Ideals): If at first you don't succeed, hit again, and again, and again. Stand up when knocked down.

Connections (Bonds): In feeling no connection to the past, I live for what is around the next corner.

(Flaws):

  • I have a Bad Habit of leaping without looking (overconfident sense of invulnerability) and thus also collecting scars.
  • (Temptation)  Performing daredevil stunts: when I see the potential for a dangerous acrobatics stunt, I am realllllly really really tempted to try it (tight rope or long jumps between towers, parkour, etc.)
  • (Loves) Heights, the thrill of flying and the "view from up there" -- especially if from the back of a griffon.
  • (Fears) Fear of Divine Wrath (holds guarded respect for Deities: Gods, Archfiends, Elder Evils, etc.)
