Be sure to first read Venomfang is Reidoth to understand the context.

And so it was great luck for Venomfang that the adventuring group Our Party arrived in Thundertree, to give her a chance to escape this tedious and boring nonsense with the Cult of the Dragon

The young green dragon put into action her plan to make show for the Cult of the Dragon to witness her being forcefully driven away from Thundertree by those "terrible do-gooders".

  1. First, the bumbling and absent-minded Reidoth greets the party and hosts them for a meal and safe quarters.
  2. The adventurers came seeking him, as they wished to learn the location of a place in Neverwinter Wood.
  3. Reidoth agrees to aid them, but asks them first to coax or drive away the dread dragon Venomfang from the tower.

The party never sees Reidoth and Venomfang at the same time - he plays at being a coward, but is happy to cheer them on and patch them up!  In fact, she/he are terrifically pleased with the performance, as the dragon flies off and the party searches the "hoard" Reidoth indeed cheers excitedly from outside by the crinkled corpses of the spiders. (This is genuine enthusiasm, Venomfang delights in the play-acting by all!)

Even more helpful to the wily dragon-as-druid, Our Party's quest is exactly the same as a tedious task Reidoth had been assigned by the Emerald Enclave!!

  • Reidoth provides directions and a briefing about King Grol and Cragmaw Castle, sending off our brave heroes.
  • Once again, the party succeeds magnificently - slaying the wicked King Grol whose forces were menacing Neverwinter Wood
  • Even though some goblins remained, it turned out the new leader, Targor Bloodsword has more decency and respect for the wood. So, indeed, the task was accomplished successfully.
