Founded by dwarven prospectors, originally, is now much more characterized by defiantly stubborn and proud self-made merchant guilds - members of the Chardalyn Syndicate. Vaelish the Brown became a wildly-celebrated leader after defiantly protecting the town against the Chardalyn Dragon of Xardorok Sunblight. He then redirected this enthusiasm and anger into hatred and hostility toward Auril herself, leading to vicious treatment of Frost Druids, Yeti, Ice Trolls, Coldlight Walkers - including bounties for their heads, and a particularly sharp vengeance aimed at the White Inquisitor, who was seen bringing to bear wintery forces during the Desolation. These hostilities are brewing a war with the Frost Giants, now assembling in larger numbers than their usual hunting pairs.
The town has begun a transformation under Vaelish the Brown, employing his magics to raise intimidating walls of earth and stone against the elements and would-be attacks. While Targos' iron rule wears the polish and shine of an attempt at legitimacy and respect, Bremen has taken a much darker path, plunging in to a grim resolve - displaying various heads of the Frostmaiden-enemies on pikes at the gates, and after some experimentation on coldlight walkers, have found a means to render them harmless while employing their light in streetlamps, upper torsos suspended in cages worked from cold iron.
Zombie-turned wheels pump water into the town from Maer Dualdon, and sewage away - somewhere. The townsfolk thus enjoy a cleanliness unknown but in some of the most advanced cities, far off to the south.
About
Leader: Lord Protector Vaelish Gant "the Brown" of the Arcane Brotherhood is now "Town Protector" following the Desolation and death of prior speaker Dorbulgruf Shalescar. While firmly in opposition to the Free Towns and Duvessa Shane, Vaelish recognizes the role played by the Sewer-side Squad in providing him warning and readiness, and even for mercy in the time at Revel's End. The group is considered under his protection in the town.
Population: 150 (stood firm in the Desolation - Vaelish and his ruthless minions now held as heroes here)
Fortifications: The town has begun to raise earthen walls around its perimeter and establish tactical rises. This shaping of the landscape has also been designed to blunt the effects of the ongoing hostilities of the Children of Auril and the Frostmaiden's minions and weather - even to the scale of the Frost Giants.
