The screen in the room flickers between static, glimpses of signal, and scrambled gibberish. No one in the room minds as no reliable signal has reached to the surface in weeks. When suddenly the signal starts to clear onto a stage with two comfortable chairs and a sign reading "Reading Circle" in the background.
In one of the chairs is Jane Garechow, a famous talk show celebrity and host of the Reading Circle, a well known daytime talk show. In the other chair is an actor, Hugh Laurie. The two are laughing and exchanging pleasant conversation.
The entirety of the episode seems to be devoted to a self-help book Star Signals.
Jane,
You know Hugh, I have to tell you. This book absolutely rocked my world. Isn't it just amazing.
Hugh nods energetically and leans forward as a brief title card flashes over the screen showing the book cover and then disappears to show the two celebrities.
I thought it would be like any other of these books. Some good-feel insights and not much more, but I swear, you’ll see and feel the changes almost instantly!
With a big smile, Hugh extends his hand motioning towards the host,
Maybe its the book's advice that is responsible for all your recent success! You have been killing it.
Hahaha. Stop, you may be right!
Jane laughs and waves his hand off jokingly. Then goes into a few anecdotes of successes she's recently had.
Hugh,
Good for you! I hope nobody hates you.
The host looks at the copy of Star Signals that she's holing in her hands for four seconds and remarks,
Fuck, it’s finding the holes.
She proceeds to stare at the book for 5 more seconds as Hugh starts up another conversation in the middle of which the signal scrambles again until it turns back to static.
