A scar in the material plane made of pure magic. A thick black cloud that stands 700 feet tall, 5 miles thick and 110 miles wide. It cracks with lightning and is constantly swirling with a light wind. While outside The Fog, it is impossible to see in. While inside The Fog, even darkvision is reduced to 40 ft. Inside The Fog live creatures that can only live there and refuse to exit. It has also been learned that somehow, mages are being turned into “Drifters” and non magic users are being turned into Wyvern. There have also been rumors of people spotting Virages and one report of the mythical Shadow Dragon.
History of The Fog: In an attempt to contain the dreaded sin construct Despair, a wizard used an unbelievable amount of magic power to create a prison for Despair. Afterwards, channeling the magic of the Material Plane itself, he attempted to create one final seal. Despair fought back from inside the Prison and the clashing magic resulted in a massive cloud of pure magic. Over time, Despair's area effect naturally corrupted the cloud, turning it into a black fog that has the ability to corrupt anyone foolish enough to enter. There is a small knights outpost nearby tasked with keeping watch over The Fog. Rumors have spread in the area of those knights seeing strange, humanoid-like shadows walking out of The Fog, people who hear these stories jokingly call this phenomenon, The Calamity.
