Kaius ir'Wynarn the Third is the current king of Karrnath, husband of Etrigani Alorenthi and the brother of Haydith and Gaius. He assumed the throne in 990 YK, taking over from Regent Moranna ir'Wynarn, and has been one of the biggest supporters of peace since. He was instrumental in pushing for the peace ratified in the Treaty of Thronehold, and has made diplomatic overtures to ensure that the peace lasts. In particular, he set up a series of hostage exchanges with Karrnath's neighbours, exchanging royal heirs.
Regent Moranna ir'Wynarn, Kaius' aunt, practically raised him and his siblings. His father died when he was just over 2 years old, and his mother died in childbirth with Haydith ir'Wynarn, which meant that Moranna was the closest thing that Kaius had to a parent for almost all of his life, and she treated him like he was her own son.
Moranna changed the national religion of Karrnath back to the Sovereign Host, a position that Kaius has maintained. He has not discriminated against the Blood of Vol, but they certainly no longer enjoy the position they had for the last century or so.
