The party wake in Horizon's Dive, two double beds between the four of them, "cosy". After everyone is up and gets ready in their cramped space, they head downstairs and through into the adjoining building, Horizon's Nectar. Here they pay for breakfast, plentiful plates of mediocre food soon arrive, and the party eat up.
The party know who they want to speak to, Nimue Blackwood, a fortune teller outside of the village who many are accusing for recently dug up graves at the Chapel of Torog. They walk east along the village's main road passing an inn called The Sleepy Birds which has a menagerie that can be heard from the outside.
Leaving the village and wandering out into the hills to the north-east, they soon find a small coppice of trees with a large wagon resting by its side. They can see a deep red fabric has been used for the wagons roof, and they notice two large wolves, silhouetted by the surroundings, that stand to attention when they spot the party. As the party get closer they realise these are dire wolves, as large as horses. As one growls ferociously, almost on the verge of attacking, the second leaps in front of it and snaps at it to back down.
The party call out to the caravan and are met with a frail voice that beckons them to enter. They do so, and are met with a surprisingly spacious interior with a large table that can seat them all. Nimue is sat, red shawl draped over most of her face. A few candles burn and the table has many interesting objects of divination scattered across it. Nimue is short with the party, asking a few blunt questions. When informed of the growing danger that faces her, in the form of an angered mob of villagers, she laughs. She tells the party that a few villagers wouldn't dare challenge her and her wolves, and if they do, it will not work out in their favour.
Nimue offers a Tarot reading for the party as she recognises that their fates are intertwined and suggests that they may benefit to glean into their future. They agree to do so, but first ask her if she knows of this particular currency, revealing one of the platinum Dargean Empire coins. Beyond knowing it is far older than the human kingdom they reside in she has little information to give. She does however demand five of the coins for the readings she is willing to give, and the party oblige. Two Tarot spreads are given, an Erathis gear and a three card, the first to look into the destiny of the party, and the second, to look into the missing bones of Greenvale. Many trials and trepidations, authority figures, views of themselves and others, the past, the present, the future. All is discussed as part of their readings, and the party are left pondering. Should they trust any of it, is the woman mad or is she touching on something real, they can't quite tell. She does say that what they seek lies north, and the party are determined to go that way regardless. As the party leave another stand off occurs, one of the giant wolves pounces toward the party but the other one bites it's back leg keeping it from harming the party.
The party get some distance from Nimue's wagon and start hiking north west, toward the Horn Peak Mountain. The rest of the day is spent trekking across grassland and hills before the terrain slowly gets more rough and more steep on the approach to the mountain's base. Once the climb becomes too steep for convenient travel Crom directs them around the mountain at their current altitude, remembering that the door hew found was on it's northern face. As they navigate further they descend slightly as the terrain gives way to sparse forest. Darkness is drawing in and a place to camp may be needed soon. The trees slowly change the further north the party go, now leafless, some trees twisted in shape, thorned. Mornington can't quite figure if it is a tree that loses its leaves this time of autumn or if something else is at play. A mist is now noticeable, flowing across the forest floor, a gentle current of light grey. It draws the party further into the forest as they move towards the source of this current.
Edward wounds several early in the fight despite his spells, while rich in color, falter slightly in these strange surroundings. He is later choked himself and falls unconscious before being brought back from the brink by Mornington's healing word. Mornington himself managed to throw off the shackles of the creature choking him before sprinting back to the ruins with the creature close on his tail.
Fenris and Crom both wield shields and bludgeoning weapons against the creatures, turning bones to dust. Both fend off multiple at a time, Fenris riposting ethereal swords while Crom sweeps with his axe.
As the last of them fall they are left in the wake of the ever still, unchanging void before them...
