Session 56

Session Log
November 23, 2022

Journey from Mordred Plains into the wild, rainy weather.

Camp a few miles outside the perimeter of the Twisted Thicket. Edward has a vision from his patron, no voice, but the oily blackness persists. Eventually a skull rises out of the oil, the substance pooling in its eye sockets. Suddenly, bloodshot eyes open within the sockets, oil streaming down the face as the jaw is slack open in a silent scream. Edward wakes in a cold sweat.

The journey continues the next day to the forked road in the forest. Mornington plays the flute and they are joined by Vix after a short wait.

He is eager to guide the party into the forest toward the secrets they seek, ancient structures of the old world.

Vix is accompanied by other satyr that keep a distance and scout around the parties movements.

Vix warns the party of Gruvteth and his followers, beastfolk known as Summer's Bane, followers of the Autumn Court. Where ever they travel the leaves turn blood red and they slaughter any they find in the name of the changing season.

Everyone slips through the ever-changing forest avoiding shrieker mushrooms before running into trouble.

Vix is accosted by an Ent-like creature which forebodes Vix from travelling closer to the heart of the forest. Crom acts as translator for the other party members as the argument gets heated. Vix is supposedly banished here by the Spring Court and is trying to say that he will help stop Gruvteth's mayhem within the forest.

Then, two beautiful female figures, completely nude, walk between the gaps in the trees, magically charming both Mornington and Crom. As Vix is adamant to continue his journey a fight breaks out between him and the Unknown who opposes him.

Edward tries to break his fellow adventurers out of their trance but cannot. The beautiful females are in fact Dryads, and have Crom and Mornington protect them under the charm. This causes the party members to both attack the Satyr that have accompanied them thus far, confusing and slowing down their path to victory.

Edward assists Vix and casts Scorching Ray twice on the wooden warrior, charring his body. The creature catches aflame and dies in a burst of smoke-plumed light. One of the two dryads is slane and the other flees, the charm on both adventurers is broken.

With the hour late, and the forest becoming increasingly dark and unwelcoming, Vix suggests they try to camp and wait for daylight.
