Party run from the lumbering beast down towards the alarm bell.
Round a corner to see a tunnel-spanning pit, with a group of cultists gathered in the chamber beyond.
The cultists spring into action, taking instruction from a Gnome barking orders. A large element stone is positioned in the centre of the room, large crystalline formations growing from its top.
Fenris goes to leap the gap and falls short, landing flat on his belly, revealing the pit to be an illusion spell.
Projectile fire bolt spells start showering the party as they make their way into the chamber, facing off against 7 cultists and the Gemcutter himself. The spells are being cast by the cultists using gemstones that shatter as they cast the spell.
Edward gets downed after taking too many hits and after falling prone due to a grease spell.
Fenris Strikes at the element stone and a shockwave sends himself and others flying, struck with thunder damage.
Most of the cultists are slain before the remainder surrender, the Gemcutter escapes through a hidden passage after casting invisibility on himself.
The party revive Edward before making chase and following Knillbacks tracks into another large chamber. The chamber has a pebble covered floor before it falls away into a deep pool of water and a few large stones are dotted around the space.
The only other thing in the space is a naked blonde woman, hunched and squatted down by the water front, gently sobbing into her hands.
The party move in to try and locate Knillback and a few words emanate from behind one of the large rocks in a language none of the party speak.
The woman stops crying and stands, swiftly turns and starts walking towards the party as her body goes through a horrific transformation. Her skin begins to wax and fold and shift, a split appears from her neck up to the centre of her bottom lip as her jaw unfolds into two separate pieces revealing vicious teeth within. Tentacle-like appendages begin to rise out from her back and gills can be seen forming on her neck and ribs.
Mornington takes a wild swing behind the large rock where the voice came from and connects. A wail of pain is heard from Knillback.
The chamber erupts into action as Mornington tries to capture Knillback and the others fend off the monstrosity before them.
The aquatic shapechanger unleashes a ear piercing screech which stuns one of the party members and it attacks with its tentacles, downing Edward and causing injuries to others.
The fight continues back and forth for several moments and Artax uses ensnaring strike to pin the creature in place. After landing several blows, the beast is finally brought down. Mornington at this point has captured and bound the Gemcutter.
The remaining conscious party members gather their breath and notice that the water is rippling, the source of the disturbance hidden out of sight in the darkness on the far side of the chamber.
