Vanguard Mission 2: Always Shoot the Messenger

Mission

Vanguard Mission Briefing

Briefing Summary

Pleased with your recent efforts to secure a viable route into Northern Izya, Armstrong O'Brian has seen fit to continue supplying your unit as you delve ever further into Jovangellian territory. While efforts to locate The Heard's base of operations have, up until this point, been entirely fruitless, that may very well change. An encrypted message from an unknown agent claiming to have pertinent info on our target’s operations has recently made its way into our hands alongside a set of coordinates deep in the heart of Northern Izya. Though the Coalition is hesitant to send you into enemy territory on so little, a Jovangellian squad has been sighted near the coordinates and we cannot afford to lose this opportunity. We need boots on the ground to extract that info and find The Heard’s whereabouts ASAP, and it’s looking like you’ve got the right shoe size for the job!

Objective

Find the unknown agent and extract with whatever intel they have on hand, preferably keeping the agent alive as a potential ally. Secondary objective: hinder or eliminate any Jovangellian squads attempting to track you or the agent.

Target

The Raccoons have been scrambled by the Empire to track down this agent, so you can expect to encounter resistance from them.

Employer

This operation is once again funded by Union Chief Armstrong O'Brian of the Heavy Alloys Worker Collective in his pursuit towards claiming vengeance against the Empire.

Rules of Engagement

Though you’re a strike team, it’s best to minimize the attention you’ll inevitably draw to yourself during this mission. As such, you should avoid initiating or escalating violence while tracking down and evacuating the asset. Likewise, you should avoid threatening or employing force against civilians. The region you're heading too has changed hands repeatedly in the last few decades, and we wouldn't want to squander any potential sympathy to our cause the locals may have.
