Hoshiko

This character is dead.
Celestial Dragonpriestess
NPC

Hoshiko was a dragonpriestess of the twin dragon gods and spiritual envoy of the Y’azi Empire. A revered oracle of Fujin and Raijin, she served as the voice of the divine in both the Palace of the Celestial Dragon and across distant lands. Her teachings helped shape the spiritual doctrines of the The Scriptorium within the Solace Atheneum in Shariz, bringing ancient Y'azi Dragonborn customs to the desert realm of the Serrakhan Sultanate. Remembered for her wisdom, clarity of vision, and unwavering devotion to the twin draconic gods, her legacy endures across osira.

Origins & History

Hoshiko was raised by The Dragonpriest Order in the inner sanctum of the Temple of The Twin Dragons, nestled within the northern spiritual district of the City of Hojo. Trained from youth in storm-channeling rites and wind-divination, she became a vessel of prophecy, believed to be touched by Fujin & Raijin themselves. Recognized for her sharp insight and calm authority, she was named high dragonpriestess by the Dragon Emperor Ryujin Hattori and became a chief spiritual guide to both military (Imperial Y'azi Guntai) and civilian arms of the Y’azi Empire. Being one of the last true Unknown, her decree was widely respected throughout the Y’azi Peninsula.

During the first diplomatic concord between Hojo and Shariz, she led the Y'azi delegation to the Palace of the Sun, where she later instructed the Sand Scribes Scriptorium in Y'azi ritual casting, Ether-Rifting, and sacred creation of the Jade Wardens. Several of her Dragon Priest disciples remained in the Sultanate as spiritual liaisons.

The Path of Prophecy

When The Sunsations called upon the champions of the world to battle Malekith in The Isle of Ember, Hoshiko answered. Despite her status and advancing years, she joined the final march to the Tomb of the Twin-Spirit. Within the infernal shadows of that cursed place, her divinations proved vital—guiding the Sunsations through impossible moments of chaos, and calling upon the will of Fujin and Raijin to smite two of the Fallen Mythar Angels during the Battle of the Black Sun.

However, even Hoshiko could not withstand the paradoxical magic of Valekith’s temporal aura. As Reverend Irving Fishbourne attempted to pull her free of the time-warping field, her body was split across moments—her spine twisted in two directions, half in stillness, half in acceleration. Even as her body broke, she whispered a final prayer to the twin gods, offering her death as tribute.

Legacy

Hoshiko's name is etched into the memory of two continents. In Shariz, the Solace Atheneum maintains her teachings in a sacred etched codex known as the Scroll of Ten Storms. In Hojo, her likeness is carved into the jade gates of the Temple of the Twin Dragons, eyes raised eternally toward the storm.

She is remembered not for wrath or power, but for guidance, belief, and sacrifice. The final words spoken by her disciples remain:

“Where the winds rise and the thunder calls, Hoshiko treads ahead.”

Bane of the Blood King

Sakura Spirit Woods

The Bane of the Blood King chronicles the harrowing struggle in which Hoshiko, revered dragonpriestess of the Y’azi Empire, aided The Sunsations against the sinister oni known as Yokai, the Blood King. Yokai had cast an insidious curse upon the city, ensnaring its citizens in unnatural slumber plagued by nightmarish visions, draining their strength and leaving the Y’azi Peninsula vulnerable ahead of an impending invasion from the northern Tribes of Khaos.

Unaffected by the Blood King's demonic magic, Hoshiko carved sacred incantations upon the hands of The Sunsations, granting them the power to awaken from Yokai’s enchanted dreams. With her aid, the heroes confronted the Blood King simultaneously in the realm of dreams and the physical world, ultimately vanquishing the oni and freeing the peninsula from its malevolent grasp.

The defeat of Yokai was a pivotal moment, not only rescuing the city but cementing Hoshiko’s legacy as a guardian whose divine connection to Fujin and Raijin safeguarded the empire from darkness.

Pact of Storm and Steel

City of Hojo

The Pact of Storms and Steel marks a significant diplomatic alliance orchestrated by Hoshiko and Headmaster Shiryu, forged between the Y’azi Empire and the distant Serrakhan Sultanate at the behest of The Sunsations and Solandir, inquisitor from the Talons of the Timeless Tome. After learning of the looming threat from Varaghast Ghuul, the Sunsations implored Hoshiko to rally the Imperial Y'azi Guntai and petition Dragon Emperor Ryujin Hattori to prepare his people for war.

Recognizing the dire stakes, Hoshiko persuaded Emperor Ryujin, securing his commitment to marshal the empire’s might against the northern threat (see: Dawn of the Rising Dragon). Furthermore, a groundbreaking exchange was agreed upon: Y'azi scholars would teach the ancient and formidable dragon magic of Fujin and Raijin to the scholars of the Serrakhan Sultanate. In return, the Sultanate promised advanced Rift technology—Rift Engines, airships, and Rift-powered weaponry obtained through trade with the Empire of Bastile.

Following the conclusion of the war with Varaghast Ghuul, Hoshiko will serve as an honored envoy, entrusted to oversee this unprecedented exchange of knowledge, further strengthening the bond between these powerful civilizations.

Eye of the Storm

Temple of The Twin Dragons

The Storm of Prophecy is a chilling and momentous vision received by Hoshiko, the revered dragonpriest of the Temple of The Twin Dragons. As a tempestuous storm sweltered above the temple, lightning struck her and her eyes glowed with the vibrant intensity of a storm, Hoshiko prophesied the coming of chaos and the arrival of the dreaded Pale Riders of the Apocalypse. On a dark and foreboding morning, the skies above Hojo were alive with the fury of a brewing tempest. As the citizens of the city sought shelter from the impending storm, Hoshiko stood fearlessly within the garden of cherry blossoms, her gaze fixed upon the heavens.

As if in response to her unwavering determination, a bolt of lightning surged from the sky, striking Hoshiko with the full force of the storm's wrath. Yet, rather than being consumed by the tempest, the dragonpriest embraced the energy, her eyes aglow with the fierce colors of the storm. With her body crackling with the residual power of the lightning, Hoshiko's voice rang out with a divine authority, unveiling a prophecy that would shake the very foundations of the Y’azi Empire. The dragonpriest spoke of the imminent arrival of the Pale Riders of the Apocalypse, harbingers of chaos and destruction who would herald the reawakening of an ancient evil lurking in the frozen wastelands of Norska.

The Storm of Prophecy has left the citizens of Hojo and the Y’azi Empire in a state of unrest, the ominous message of Hoshiko's vision casting a shadow of doubt and uncertainty over their future. The people now look to their leaders, the dragonpriests, and the twin gods themselves for guidance and protection against the coming tide of chaos that threatens to engulf the land.
