Elaris Oakspell attended Glamour Vale Preparatory School where he excelled in the Arcane Arts. Since he was a gifted student and highborn, he often crossed paths with Dalia. While not particularly close, they spent time together, mainly on the formal gatherings of Glamour Vale's Social Season. While slightly younger than Dalia, he was a little older than Delphina. When Delphina was late to her own debut, Elaris was one of those who went looking for her, and as luck would have it, he was the one that found her. It wasn't love at first sight, but there was a spark there.
In Delphina, he found all the things that he was missing in his reserved cloistered life. The young sorcerer was quickly smitten, but Delphina seemed to not have the same feelings. Unbeknownst to him, Delphina was also developing feelings for him, but was not acting on them, mistakenly thinking that Elaris was her sister's lover. In a turn of events at a particular masked ball where her sister (who was male presenting at the time), dressed as Delphina, and Delphina dressed as 'Drake'. Elaris had not realized that it was a masked ball, and attended in formal wear, and admitted to his friend "Drake" that he had wished to impress Delphina, and his hopes were dashed. Forgetting that she was pretending to be her sibling, Delphina kissed Elaris. Elaris pushed Delphina away with protests that he did not want to ruin a friendship, and his heart belonged to Delphina.
They would not see each other again for almost a third of the social season, both avoiding each other on Dalia's behalf. They finally ran into each other at the High Summer Ball, where Dalia, who was unaware of either's feelings for the other, pulled their group back together with a drinking contest. The staid Elaris was soon heavily drunk. Delphina, being the experienced drinker, helped the magic user back to his apartment. At his living quarters, he struggled with getting ready for sleep. Delphina forced him to sit down, and carefully unbraided his elaborate hair style so that the dark auburn ringlets framed his face. Delphina laid him down and covered him with a blanket so that he could sleep off his inebriation.
The next morning Delphina awoke to the smell of hickory coffee brewing and the sound of the magically summoned rain. As she poured herself something to drink, Elaris stepped out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist. "Thank you for taking care of me last night, I was an absolute bore." he said, his violet eyes looking out from behind his auburn curls. Delphina set the cup down, and drew him closer their breath mingling a hair's breadth apart anticipating their first real kiss.
The first real kiss was followed by many others over the next six weeks of the Social Season. The two were inseparable, and while The Marchioness of Rusalka Springs was delighted in the calming influence of Elaris, the Oakspell's were very upset at Elaris letting down his hair. At the end of the season, they gave their son an ultimatum, Delphina or be cut off. With Elaris's intentions to join the Magocracy, he could not afford the scandal or the lack of financial support. They had one last bittersweet night together, and parted as friends.
Dalia believes that losing Elaris is why Delphina threw herself so strongly into partying and petty mischief that lead to her being sent to Harvest Hills Region.
