The Strands of Fate Studio

The Wild Elves of the Elven Wilds are nomadic peoples, who have very few permanent settlements, however, there are things that the wild elves both need and want that don’t travel well.

One such place is the Strands of Fate Studio. It is a small glass blower’s studio about ten miles outside of Glamour Vale. While the bulk of their business is jars, snifters, and potion vials, they also make beautiful jewelry. The bulk of this jewelry is sold to the Magocracy to be made into magic items, a good deal of it is sold to the wild elves.

The current owner of the Strands of Fate is the reason it is called the Strands of Fate rather than the glassblower’s studio. Abae is a diviner and cleric of little power, but great accuracy. She is an elderly woman who has been running the studio for almost a century. While she runs the studio, she very rarely makes anything besides glass animals as children’s playthings. Often the glass menageries that she creates for a child will come to bear great significance to the child later in life.

It is rare that she creates jewelry, leaving that to her apprentices. However, on one such occasion, she did both an animal and piece of jewelry. When Maranisis Tal'Deth was a child, she and Gre Trothfo were summoned to the Strands, Abae presented to the very small child, an extremely intricate necklace. The chain itself was strands of glass that stayed warm to the touch, and it had a small monarch butterfly charm. The butterfly was made of globules of black glass, and the ‘spots’ on the wings were gemstones- cut and polished flecks of amber. Except the two largest spots, which were rare orange cats-eye opals. Which made the butterfly look almost like a mask. When the small child asked what it was about, Abae simply replied “It is not for me to know, it is for you to find out”
