This grand an ancient Citadel formerly belonged to the House of Dengun today it is the seat of the power for the House of Karna. It's beautiful design is at odds with its former and present owners reputations for warfare and violence. It is beautiful but hard to defend, as the Degun found out to their cost. Created at the same time and by the same culture as Hillfort and The Ice Palace belonging to the House of Runenar. It is also permanently wrapped in ice, something that was consider when it was designed.
The underground floors still contain the tombs of the ancestors of the Dengun and reaffirm that the Karna may rule but they are not rooted here. They are kept in machines that keep the bodies from decomposing. They drain energy but the Karna dare not risk offending the northern houses over which they now rule by turning them off.
The House houses a large military at the citadel and have recently founded an elite order known as the Ice Rangers of Karna - they intend to use this as a quick response force to any emergencies.
There is very little economy in the region and the House has begun to find itself in debt. It has begun founding some ice fishing settlements in the northern lands but finding volunteers was hard and in the end members of the House had to be conscripted. In order to try and encourage economic growth they have established there own Bank of the North at the citadel and are trying to persuade all the northern Houses to use it as a central bank and to stimulate growth. The bank is said to be funded by backers in Crownhome which makes the northern houses suspicious about where its interests really lie.
