Deriel

Grand Count of Language, The Grand Linguist, The Communicator

Deriel, often taking on the form of a Dorro, is the Illiadian Holy Grand Count of of Language, and deity of Communication and Diplomacy. It is said that Deriel was the one to give the gift of speech and writing to the first people of Illiad, and also the one to teach them how to solve their conflicts without resorting to violence, and instead by way of using diplomacy. This makes Deriel a popular deity amongst politicians, merchants and dealmakers, but also amongst civil servants and pacifists who prefer diplomacy over the sword. Extroverts who simply enjoy good conversation also appreciate Deriel quite a bit.

In The Marble Cathedral, Deriel's realm are the "Halls of Discussion", where scholars, both mortal being and spirits of the past, discuss a manner of things, such as philosophy, politics and even matters of the mind. Deriel serves directly under Rencal Kei-Rhai and The Golden Scribe.

Basic tenets of Deriel:

- Use your words. If you desire something, simply having a conversation can result in finding a solution that pleases you both.
- Connect with others. Good conversation and drinks can lead to connections that may or may not last a lifetime. Only one way to find out!
- The pen is mightier than the sword. Any conflict has a peaceful solution. And even if finding it isn't always possible, it's still worth trying.
