Skytalon - Artifact - Greatsword - Requires attunement by a Fighter, Paladin or Barbarian that the blade considers worthy. 

The ancestral blade of the Griffmane Family. This sentient greatsword made from enchanted red dragon-bone adjusts its size to the preferred combat-style of its attuned wielder, which makes it possible to wield with one hand, and giving it the Versatile-feature instead of the Two-Handed feature, making it look like a slightly larger longsword. Additionally, the light bone that makes up this blade gives it the finesse-property. A member of Clan Griffmane can attune to this blade, even if they have no free attunement slots.

Wielding Skytalon one-handed turns its damage die into a d12 and makes it have the Sap mastery, while wielding it with both hands turns its damage die into 2d6 and makes it have the Graze mastery. When attuned to, you have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon, your attacks with this weapon deal an additional 1d8 fire damage, you gain an additional fighting style (Chose between Two-Weapon Fighting, Duelling, Great Weapon Fighting and Interception), and are proficient with Animal Handling, as well as have advantage towards all checks towards griffons. The first attack in a round made with this weapon against creatures of the dragon-type automatically has advantage. Also, the sword has these additional effects:

Sentience: Skytalon is inhabited by the souls of both Karl Griffmane and his loyal steed Grimmane. However, Karl Griffmane’s soul is in control of the blade. As such, Skytalon is a Lawful Good blade with an Intelligence of 13, a Wisdom of 16 and a Charisma of 15. It has hearing and normal vision out to a range of 120 ft and can communicate via telepathy with anyone touching the blade or its handle. In the event the blade doesn’t consider its wielder worthy of wielding it, it will forcefully end attunement and become impossible to attune to until it is convinced otherwise.

Personality: Karl Griffmane is gruff, straight to the point and a warrior at heart, but also honorable with a strong sense of justice. He has no appreciation for cowards who flee from duty, and recommends swift and bloody judgment towards his wielders’ enemies, but understands cases such as tactical retreats, fleeing in case of enemy supremacy to fight another day, and retreats for the greater good, such as in order to protect innocents. Additionally, as per the teachings of Tyr, he understands that justice has to sometimes be tempered with mercy. The modern times, with Galon as part of the Royal Union, confuses him, but he understands modern times need modern solutions; even if he can't come up with them himself.
