DM (Charalampos "Babis") — 26/09/2024 09:44
I'll be dropping a survey soon enough but worry not, this one will be much slimmer 😄
Wanted to say, I'm aware that recently we've been in non stop combat and I'm sure folks are feeling exhausted (I know I am abit!).
The reason being is that I want to stay true to the consequences of the world and the cult was explicitly protecting the ship so threw at you everything that was nearby.
That said however I think we will be able to breath easier after this session (assuming y'all won ofcourse) and take things a tad easier.
To that extent I was wondering If I could ask what each person would do if you had two weeks of downtime. Feel free to message me privately or say it here.
[Pine]
Okay, after thinking about it some more, here are some things that Pine would want to do during downtime, assuming it is in Leilon. If it was somewhere else, this might change.
1. He would want to make that shrine to the Three in Leilon that he'd been given permission for. If he uses the spell 'Shape Stone' and his masonry skills, I don't see him taking longer than a day to do that. However if the building was in dire need of renovation to make it safe, then he'd do that too. He could use the same spell to make it easier, but it would certainly add time. Sadly he cannot cast 'Hallow' on it, since he doesn't have the 1k gold pieces required lol
2. He'd do ceremony for any dead that needed put to rest, no matter their alignment or species.
3. He still has the diamond with a soul in it from campaign 1, found on the body of the elf in the basilisk cave. He'd want to see if he could speak with the soul, and what it might say. He'd cast 'comprehend languages' in order to facilitate that if necessary, as I think he has access to that.
4. He'd chat with any of the group that wanted to do so.
Effie
Effie might try to befriend/get closer to the others. And as Pine seems to be the most sceptical of her (or of everyone?) she'd try to show interest in things he seems to like, like that journal of his that he's always writing in.
(besides the other thing I wrote to you about @DM (Charalampos "Babis") if that's ok to have time for both)
Arya
If Arya has seen anyone in Leilon being good at anything like alchemy or similar she would probably see if she could learn more about that. It's the only real downtime thing I can think of. Otherwise it is more looking things up like trying to figure out how to find the basement of the tower or anything about on how to break the shackles on the eladrin.
Siax
Siax would catch up and inform Falcon and bring him up to speed with everything thats happened recently. Then he would give the latest info on the history mystery of the guild. Then he would ask for updates on whats been happening in Leilon whilst the groups been away. Hoping that Falcon can give details and insight on any characters that may need a closer eye kept on.
Then he would if there is anytime left to speak to the group and see if they can help with the mystery of the guild history. Idris for his knowledge on the ancient elvish language. Perhaps he can teach Siax.
Siax would then if any time left look to bond further with the bow and the moonblade.
Idris Doryu
With recent events Idris would as usual spend his time helping the city here and there when he is free but his main focus would be the smithy or wherever Ghelryn is. He has this idea of combining the sword with the spear of talos to bring it closer to completion(?) (What is this swords limit?)
He would also want to talk to Lumalia, Eefe, Talos and maybe even Alistor if there is time for it mostly just having random conversations but also with the tought in mind to befriend them and also get clues for the weapon here and there.
Topics he would want to talk about are:
His Future plans
- Immortality
- Getting to know the person more and their goal currently and in life
- rest would just be idle small talk I guess
Priority order would be
1. Sword/Ghelryn/Learning from Ghelryn
2. Talking to the people (kinda tied to the sword)
3. Posssibly talking to party if there is demand
4. Helping City
5. Avoiding Politics
6. Politics
After surviving the assault from the Cult of Talos the party tried to recover. Staying in the smuggler caves that they had discovered so many months ago they tended to their wounds. Siax and Pine eventually ranged out to the boulder that had hit Fheralai Stormsworn in the hope they could find some of her blood. Oddly the boulder seemed to have been burned and the blood dry and flaking. Still, with some deft bladework Pine was able to recover some of it in an empty flask. The next point of order was to get in touch with Ularan Mortus who seemed disappointed at the sinking of Emberlost but promised help. After much discussion the party concluded that recovering the Dreadnought was beyond their capabilities as of now - however Idris unnatural memory was able to help them pinpoint where the ship likely lay. Ularan Mortus asked them to give the location to one of his agents located in Leilon, a woman called Konda Les.
During their rest, Arya noticed sound-echoing grooves in a cave, suspecting a hag’s lair, while Effie studied the magical lenses found in the cultists boat. It pierced through illusions and using it on the map Arya had found allowed her to find the location of the Storm God's Mouth among other Talos bases. Oddly it seemed a lot of the routes the cultists used went through The Whalebones a location known to Idris as where his brother Yuu was currently leading aDoryu crusade against the pirates there.
As the group traveled to Leilon, they noted signs of life at the recovering Wayside Inn and found Leilon itself slightly upgraded. Effie met with Factoré, hearing that Gnomengarde had finished an anti-dragon ballista, while Idris confirmed no Talos cultists in town, though Pine’s confrontation over Konda Les caused tension. Konda Les turned out to be an elderly dwarf who was residing in Leilon's equivalent of an old folks home. Dropping the act when she brought Effie and Idris into her room she was revealed to be in much better shape that she had shown, possessed a Pseudodragon pet and was clearly someone who could wield magic. After a brief discussion she headed to the sight of the dreadnoughts sinking. The party split for personal tasks: Siax confided his regrets to Falcon, bonding over shared burdens; Idris encountered strange visions after eating enchanted paper. Arya sent her Quickling to investigate the tower’s depths, finding dark void-like tunnels, while Effie hustled a hustler as a way to relax. Pine ended the night creating a small shrine dedicated to The Dead Three, with the group finally taking a long rest, bracing for the challenges to come.
Come Illy, I must drag my world weary bones upon the road once more. The master calls and we will answer as always. What did you think of them little one? *Prrrrrrrr* No, no don't answer that, you always fall for the charming ones. An interesting group, like a single bag containing smokepowder and a lit lantern. I do wonder what will happen if one was to open that bag and let a little air in. Enough of that now though Illy, we have a ship to mend.
