Biography

Ruined Kingdom

Melony’s birth is tied to the very creation of the Ruined Kingdom itself. Melony was given form by Friede as one of the Creation Trio. Friede loved Melony and blessed her as the god of antimatter before letting her go along her realm. However, Melony was not satisfied with her blessing. As such, she challenged Friede for control of the realm, starting a duel that would last for a countless amount of time and meddling with the reality of said world. Eventually, however, Melony was defeated and banished into the Distortion World, with Friede taking a piece of her soul away and creating a Core of it.

A prophecy was made that day – that the two would eventually fight once more – deciding on the very fate of the world. Melony relished for the day, choosing to hide in the shadows within her Distortion World for the day she can challenge Arceus directly. Many eons passed. Melony attempted several times to break free of this curse and to obtain her fragment back once and for all; however, she was thwarted and re-sealed time and time again.

Then, Melony changed her outlook and tactics.

Melony stopped her attempts to break free and put up a front of remorse, waiting patiently for her moment to strike. The Renegade started to behave and participate under Friede’s rules. She gained some trust in the realm and became one of Friede’s favored children; however, she had not ever received the piece of her soul for some time. Instead, as a reward of Melony’s loyalty, she was given the Ghost Plate for now until Friede was satisfied enough to trade with her Griseous Core.

Then, one day, whilst Melony had returned to hiding, she found her opportunity from a man named Volo. He had been heart-broken by Friede during one of her quests to learn more about the human species directly. He was broken and depressed, but suspicious of Friede’s identity. Melony had been watching this entire time and passively led Volo to her gates where she waited for him. Upon entering, Volo was greeted by sweet pleasantries and love bombing. She told him the truth of Friede’s identity and blamed her for his heartbreak. Melony then manipulated him, slowly drained him of his sanity, and had him see her True Form, breaking his hold on reality. Then, she promised to help him confront her and promised a new world where she and he would be together as rulers of the realm…. All he needed to do was to catch Friede and subjugate her. Volo and Melony worked together to force Palkia into a frenzy to provoke Arceus, and, should she fail, to gather the remaining 17 plates and summon Friede.

However, their plans were thwarted. Friede summoned a young girl, Akari, from another time and place to help with the crisis that was brewing from Melony’s actions. Akari ventured around the Hisui region, calmed the Noble Pokémon, calmed Palkia, and captured both Dialga and Palkia. As such, Volo and Melony agreed to go into the next phase of their plan. Volo helped Akari obtain the 17 remaining plates and led her to Spear Pillar. Volo then challenged her, hoping to strike her down and take the plates for himself; however, he was unsuccessful in defeating Akari. Melony intervened and challenged Akari, but even after giving it her all without her core, Melony also was defeated. Thus, Melony was driven back and vanished without a trace.

Melony’s repeated failure caused her fall into a deep depression, and it was during that depression where a projection of Friede appeared. The two talked together, about the current world, of the humans that inhabit it, and of the relationship between them and Pokémon. They talked about their own relationship and their own one-sided rivalry. That’s where Friede made her a deal. If Melony would become Akari’s travel companion for a year to better understand the current world, then Friede will give Melony’s true and full power back to her. Should she still be unsatisfied, then the two would fight once more. The winner would shape the world in their image while the loser would be given a permanent death.

Melony agreed. Melony left the Distortion World and met Akari at Sendoff Spring, where Akari challenged her and captured her. For a year, the two would be together. Melony would defend Akari from any foe that wished to do her harm while also helping in any way that she could with the Hisui region and the humans that resided there. Melony grew fond of the world, of the Pokémon, of the humans, and of the atmosphere. Thus, when the year was over, Melony decided not to challenge Friede, but to use her abilities to help foster the harmony between people and Pokémon within the world. Then, for much of Akari’s life, the two continued to remain close friends and partners as the newly named Sinnoh region began to thrive.

Years passed and Melony was no longer directly needed within the Sinnoh region; however, she and Friede became friends and Melony would become the world’s protector from the shadows. So, when Friede proposed the idea of creating a city for the Hall of Origin to open to humans, Melony was one of the first to agree to it. With Melony’s (and others’) help, Friede created a thriving city where humans, Pokémon, and Legendary Pokémon would work together to make the world a better place: Origin City. Melony even became one of the two Dragon-type gym leaders for the world. For many years, the city lived in harmony and without incident.

Everything changed with the actions of a single man and his followers. Cyrus detected the city and the state of the world. With the help of his followers, Cyrus slowly dismantled the hierarchy of the Legendary Pokémon. He captured Dialga and Palkia. He destroyed Melony’s Griseous Core and banished her back to the Distortion World. He shackled Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. Finally, he ascended to Friede’s domain and attempted to capture Friede. However, Friede slew him and all of those helping him. From that moment, Friede’s grief and trauma started to manifest, and, even when she was able to help her children return to what they were, humans who heard of her actions and grew fearful demanded explanations and eventually attempted to for actions from her. Friede fearfully slew them as well.

Over time, the city became abandoned and Friede herself started to isolate herself more. Melony attempted to talk things through with her friend, hoping to try to help make amends, but Friede rejected her. Melony attempted to mend things with the humans directly, but the humans, accusing Melony of siding with Friede, rejected her, too. Over time, as Friede’s heart started to harden, Melony felt more and more isolated from the world, but still chose to protect it with the hope that she could help to fix everything.

That day never came.

After 200 years, Friede gathered a few of her most loyal Legendary Pokémon and caused an apocalypse on the world. She started to destroy the entire world, killing countless people and Pokémon. Initially, Melony did what she could to shelter a few of the Legendary Pokémon, but no human was able to successfully enter her domain. That’s when Melony decided to take the problem head-on. Melony went to Friede and challenged her once more. However, when Melony attempted to summon her full strength, Friede destroyed her core and banished her back into the Distortion World, where Melony was unable to save anyone more.

After the world-ending event, Friede disappeared, and Melony returned to the world a week later in a weakened state. All but one of the Legendary Pokémon under her care slowly started to part ways with her, hoping to find some way to fix everything. As for Melony herself? She started to venture the world for her destroyed Griseous Core. For 100 years, Melony roamed the world in search of all of the pieces of her Griseous Core. She was able to find a few but continued to struggle with finding the rest.

Then, her luck changed with a chance meeting.

Elysium

Melony noticed as a familiar Shiny Latias entered the world on her own volition. While Melony was skeptical of the Pokémon, Melony decided that this could be the only way that Melony would be able to do anything. As such, Melony snuck and entered through Heidi’s portal during one of Heidi’s entries.

Melony wasn’t expecting to find a completely different world. Unlike her now-destroyed home, this world was one where humans and Pokémon thrived – where they worked together to solve trouble just like the one of Melony’s past. Melony was in awe, and, when she eventually met Heidi directly, Melony and Heidi became fast friends and sisters. Melony was also given the opportunity to stay in the world by Heidi, her husband, and the Arceus of that world at the time, Izanami. Over time, Melony would work with everyone in any way that she could while learning more of the world. In return for Melony’s help, Heidi would assist Melony in finding the missing pieces of herself, eventually finding enough pieces of Melony’s core for Melony to reconstruct it and return her to form. Melony was completed and pledged her loyalty to Heidi, both as Heidi’s sister but also as Heidi’s retainer.

Now with Friede defeated by Heidi, Melony lives at her new home with Heidi as Heidi’s protector, and, with the threat of Friede vanquished, Melony now spends her time helping Heidi in her mission to keep the family of the world together and protect the world from any additional harm, and with her newfound freedom, Melony now is on a personal journey of self-discovery and understanding of her identity and wishes.
