High Elves

When humanity first arrived on @Hadira on Twilight Worldwith their armies and their sun god’s power, the Elves split into two sides. One side stayed in the forests, hoping for balance with the newcomers. The other side realized it was only a matter of time before humanity would attempt to subjugate them, so instead they insinuated themselves into human society, seeking to control them from inside.

Notable noble houses

Forlonde - The most powerful house in Hadira, led by Lord Malgali. Jealousy and rumors of an unholy pact made in its distant past once stopped house Forlonde from accumulating much power, however during Nightfall Lord Malgali dropped all pretenses and seized power by performing a profane ritual reanimating tens of thousands of undead. Now House Forlonde are the undisputed rulers of the High Elves and all other houses merely minor nobility.

Tirestir - Noble and tall, at the height of their power before Nightfall, house Tirestir’s Lord Elegas was the chancellor of the high council. Since then House Tirestir, like the others, has been overshadowed by House Forlonde and relegated to scheming against the other lesser houses for mere scraps.

Valores - House Valores and its Lady Amariel are liked or respected by most other houses. While they are seen as peacemakers and negotiaters by the other houses, they suffer from fierce internal power struggles between its lady and her sisters.

Alavar - The death of lord Findrial left the oldest and most powerful noble house of Alavar in shambles even before Nightfall. Only the devious and brilliant scheming by his descendants has kept the house alive for the centuries since. Now with their survival no longer in question the scions of house Alavar have regained their ambition and strive to use to the other minor houses to topple House Forlonde.

Erel - House Erel is without a doubt the smallest and least influential amongst minor houses. This is mostly due to their historically close bonds with the human society, which was frowned upon by most nobles and (secretly) feared by others. Many of its subjects chose human partners over other Elves, creating a sizable Half Elf faction which are treated as equals despite not being able to swear allegiance. House Erel is further weakened by many of its subjects choosing to join Czelen's journey into the Wildspace.

Religion

Never the most religious tribe back when the Ash tribe were still wood elves. After the High Elves’ merge with human society most have neglected and forsworn their traditional gods of balance. Although most of the Houses have taken up Necromancy under the guidance of House Forlonde, not even Ilalokthramek is worshipped as a god but rather seen as an ancient ancestor and teacher.

Half high elves

Seen as second class, barely above humans by all High Elves but House Erel. They serve the High Elf nobility as trusted servants, diplomats and middle men.
