Within The Basement...

Presh

Red phased into the Ethereal Realm to scout ahead of the party. As she descended the stairs, she came across a gruesome scene. A middle-aged dwarven researcher lay dead, documents scattered haphazardly around his lifeless form. It appeared as though he had been injured only moments before, but had struggled to make it up the stairs before succumbing to his wounds. The party's scout also observed a massive vampire and three of its spawns, seemingly in a state of disarray as the ground trembled beneath them.

In addition to the gruesome scene, Red noticed large prison cells lining the walls of the room, each filled with lifeless corpses - a failed aftermath of some experiment, perhaps. But her focus was soon pulled towards a floating Elaine, who was situated in front of a pentagram. Three spellcasters were casting a ritual, and Asek was in a glassy-eyed state in the middle of the pentagram.

Without hesitation, the party rushed to save Asek. Henk and Isildur worked together to execute a hypnotic pattern, but their efforts were hindered by a powerful magic barrier. The situation quickly took a turn for the worse as Henk collapsed, with Elaine holding up his slumped body. It was up to Peregrin to bring down the barrier, which he managed to do with a successful Wisdom save. However, his actions triggered a flashback, revealing a hooded figure standing before a chanting pentagram.

"Peregrin observed the hooded figure, and spotted the edges of a dragon mask that peeked out. The man asked a trembling child in a similar magical circle what they wanted most, encouraging them to pray with all their might while holding their desire close to their heart. There were three mages present, chanting an ominous spell.

An explosion ensued before the child crumpled over.

'Another failure, clean this up.' the hooded figure remarked before turning away."

Despite Red's efforts to disrupt the spell by striking one of the spellcasters, the ritual continued. Asek began to levitate off the ground, adding to the chaos in the room.

But Peregrin once again proved to be the hero of the day, planting a healing totem in the ground that brought everyone back from death's door. Mikes managed to blind Ara, but that didn't stop him from landing a critical hit on the enemy. Suddenly, a crack appeared above Asek, and two hands emerged from the opening, ripping the crack wider. Although Ara was able to break the last spellcaster's concentration, the crack and hands remained.

The party soon discovered that the magic circle on the ground was the same pentagram they had seen on their journey to Shadowgrange. Zurick took it upon himself to finish off the remaining spellcasters and destroy the pentagram. Peregrin teleported next to Asek and was able to successfully convince her to return to consciousness.

Fortuna Domina

Presh
Even with Asek freed and removed from the equation, the Primordial ritual has hit a critical point and was self-sustaining. As the giant silky hands pulled wide the realm tear, a Goddess stepped into the material plane.

Her name, Fortuna Domina - Lesser Lady of Luck.

As Ara stood before the entity, he felt the weight of her words crashing over him like a wave. "I am coming to this realm to free the world," she said with an eerie calmness that sent shivers down his spine.

The primordial descended, and Zurick and Henk were entranced by her words. "I will grant you freedom from this mortal plane," she promised, her voice like honey laced with poison.

Elaine was practically vibrating with excitement. "This is it! We've finally perfected the ritual," she exclaimed, practically bouncing on her feet.

Ara knew they needed backup, and he wasted no time calling in the national guard before he was downed. But as the battle raged on, even their reinforcements weren't enough to quell the chaos.

Thankfully, Peregrin was quick to act, whisking Asek to safety before returning to the fray.

Suddenly, the national guard popped in through a teleportation circle, led by none other than Ara's old mentor, Faren Greenshard from Elf Junior College. They immediately grabbed Ara and dragged him to safety.

But Elaine was determined to take down the primordial, shouting, "Let's see what you got!" The ensuing battle was brutal, and the party realized too late that the Primordial was far stronger than they anticipated.

Fortuna was the first to take a hit, walking past Red with a glint in her eye before striking down two vampire spawn with ease. And as the battle raged on, Henk found himself struggling with memories that threatened to enslave him.

It was Fortuna who offered him an escape, showing him a still image of a 30-40 year old human lady leading him by the hand.

"Henk, come on!"

"Stay if you want to find out." Fortuna sweetly whispered, and Henk was left feeling both bewilderment and a yearning to uncover the truth.

But before he could learn more, Zurik shattered Fortuna's existence with a flurry of well-placed strikes. The fake goddess cursed Peregrin as she faded away.

Meanwhile, Red's rage had taken hold, and she was attacking anyone in her path, including Fortuna. It was only after a suggestion from Ara, with the help of Peregrin, that Red was finally able to snap out of it.

But even as the chaos died down, Red was still in the grips of a mysterious figure named Alberus, who she claimed was keeping her safe and sane.

A Respite That Never Was

Presh

The party sailed back towards Presh's harbour, relieved to have Ara's family, Asek, and the boys safe by their side. Peregrin approached Sebastien the pegasus, thanking him for his aid and gifting him his freedom in exchange for a magical jet black feather. With the feather tucked away, the party headed back towards Presh. During the ride, Ara had a heart-to-heart with Asek, discussing their current situation and plans for the future.

Red, on the other hand, eavesdropped on the conversation between the elves at the back of the boat. She overheard Falen Greenshard's overconfident remark about being able to take them down, which sent a chill down her spine. The city was not too far away when screams and the sound of Calsitro's voice echoed across the waters, rallying the rebels. Arrows flew towards the boat, and the party was commanded to disembark upon reaching the docks.

Henk, however, started trouble he couldn't finish, and the party was almost killed. They made a hasty retreat, sailing back to Valdore Island, where the elves put everyone except for Red and Ara to sleep, as ordered by Ara's mother. Red attempted to strike, but was knocked out by Faren.

After a conversation with his mother, Ara demanded to know what she had been keeping from him. She, in turn, demanded to know everything. Ara's mother wanted the party to return to Evermeet and put the blame on Team ARRC, but Ara refused. Suddenly, a hooded figure emerged from the Valdore Mansion, accusing them of wrecking his island and blasting Ara into unconsciousness.

While Ara had a private conversation with his mother, the rest of the party grew tired and handcuffed. The Jailor, Zandesh Valdore, walked in, revealing that Ara's mother had cut a deal for his diplomatic immunity. Ara, however, revoked his immunity and gave up his royalty status, an ancient magic leaving him as his mother fainted.

The Jailor loaded the mostly unconscious Team ARRC onto prison wagons and shortly left Presh. When they woke up, Ara relayed the series of events to his party. The Jailor's true identity shocked them all - he was Zendash Valdore.

Where It All Began

The party's journey to Falkenrath Keep was not without its fair share of unexpected events. As they made their way towards the Keep, a swarm of paparazzi suddenly appeared out of nowhere, causing the Jailor to swear under his breath. The group found themselves being questioned by the press, and in the process, they uncovered a shocking revelation - Calsitro was a Dread Pirate.

Once inside the jail, the party encountered some familiar faces in the canteen. Tukklin Bigtoe and Frank were there, and the latter was in a particularly dark place. His family in Presh had been killed, and he was struggling to cope with the loss. The Beast Legion's Orc named Tog Fang was also there, having been imprisoned for killing someone who had killed his wolf. Henk, being the friendly chap he is, managed to befriend Tog and hatched a plan to break into the vault and retrieve their belongings before escaping together.

Zurick was approached by a Dragonborn who informed him that their clans had united under the Norrixius clan, and were preparing to take back what was rightfully theirs. The two Dragonborn, Kalesh Stormfront and Turok Stormfront, were keen to break out of jail as well, but they seemed a bit clueless.

Tucklin, who was understandably angry with Ara for selling him out to Oswin, was surprised when Red revealed that they had found a cure.

Frank was surprised to see that the party was back in prison, but agreed to give an overview of the place. The first level and the first two basement levels hold prisoners of increasing severity. On the basement three floor, the place is deathly cold - likely where Illonia was being held. On the basement four floor, rests the heavily guarded vault.

Ara was then called to the visitor's room, where he was confronted by Mila's father, Norren Milonkhal, who held him responsible for his daughter's death. Norren threatened to start a war and kill Ara's family. He then proceeded to make a macabre proposition - for every finger that Ara sliced off, his family would be given an extra day to live. In a moment of desperation, Ara sliced off three of Norren's fingers, only to be told that the blade he used was cursed and the fingers would never grow back.

Finally, a guard (presumably Starr) came to speak to Ara and gave him his cell key, which could potentially be his ticket to freedom.
