The Codas are artifact-level items created by the Divinities and bestowed upon humanity. Many are lost to history, with the only lead for their current location being the sphinx who observed the granting of these gifts: Falun Terani, now residing in her extra-dimensional temple of Trennen Faedis.
All Codas had 3 stages: when unwielded or wielded by a new user, they default to Dormant, its lowest power. If wielded by an individual of established divine connection to the patron god, or of sufficient innate power, it becomes Awakened. In order to wield the full power of any Coda and become Exalted, one of the following conditions must be met:
- A direct line between divine power and the wielder is opened.
- An agreement to act as the Champion of the respective Deity.
These conditions were made virtually impossible with the establishment of the Ends of Empyrean. Bypassing or dispelling this barrier would allow Exalted states again.
