Mortain Donnaden

Mortain Donnaden was a Shadar-kai man with shoulder-length grey hair and bright green eyes. His skin was smoke grey and he often wore wizard robes of vibrant green. After his semi-transformation, His eyes grew large and more circular, glowing wholly green, and his skin grew sunken and further greyed. He wielded a long wooden staff of spongy black wood.

Mortain Donnaden primarily pursued lichdom, or rather ways to circumvent the downsides of lichdom in the pursuit of furthering magical ability and life expectancy. In his research and experiments, he mastered the unnatural necrotic powers which paralleled that of liches, and he even attempted to partly transform himself into one. By his measure, he succeeded - he ages far slower and slowed the effects of old age as his constantly breaking down body uses his own magic to repair itself at all times. He also retained his soul, granting him most of his original personality and agency. He did, however, lose a portion of his humanity, and could no longer relate to others, and his motivation to move forward - now not entirely wizard to pursue knowledge and not entirely lich to pursue power - became nearly nonexistent. 

Mortain Donnaden was a private member of the Hydra Collective. Aside from his tomes and research on necromancy spells which students had used to learn, he was not involved in Astralreach Academy and preferred to remain cloistered in his chosen ruins in Skaelor.
