Sedesend

Metropolis: Population 336,048 (54% humans, 7% dwarves, 7% elves, 32% other races)

Sedesend rises from the center of the continent of Olessar, stalwart as the mountain it is built against. It is the pinnacle of political institutions and educational developments of the Olessar Empier, as well as the seat of the Olessar patriarchy.

Sedesend is only accessible from the heavily fortified gates around its northern border, and its guarded to all threats from the south by Solithar's Spire. A single, heavily fortified tunnel runs through the base of the mountain to access the roadways and region to the south.

Government: Sedesend is the seat of Emperor Isaac Olessar III. Emperor Olessar is the sovereign ruler of Olessar, advised most closely by his advisors of the Lumos Circle. Additionally, the Hydra Collective serves as advisors and aid in ruling the empire from their seat in Astralreach Academy, the wizarding academy.

Crime: As the seat of power for the Olessar dynasty, the imperial Goldguard can be seen from every street corner. However, the sheer size of the city as it has expended around the base of Solithar's Spire has propogated the spinning of a complex web of criminal enterprises and underworld activities. Individual contactors (Princess and Duke) and sprawling syndicates (The Turn flourish in the labyrinthine alleys of the Cobble Ward. It is the express duty of Fury, a group of enforcers within the Goldguard, to prevent the spread of such activities, especially in the Ridge and Summit Wards.

Cultural Crossroads: The streets of the Goldhaven Crossroads bring peoples and cultures of every creed through this city, and the streets echo with languages, music, and traditions from every corner of the empire. The Grand Bazaar of the Cobble Ward exemplifies this best: vibrant stalls entice visitors with exotic spices, handcrafted wares, and artifacts from hundreds of miles away. Up on the Summit Ward, the Astralreach Academy offers academic and arcane learning to hundreds of students every year, with comprehensive and prestigious programs in every area of arcane study imaginable.

Wards: Sedesend is divided into four wards: the the Cobble Ward, the Ridge Ward, the Stalag Ward, and the Summit Ward.

Points of Interest

Sedesend is divided into four regions: the Cobble Ward, the Ridge Ward, the Stalag Ward and the Summit Ward.

  • The Summit Ward is a higher-income region, elevated above the rest of the city on the slopes and outcroppings of Solithar's Spire. Extremely well patrolled and guarded, entrance is closely monitored and regulated, allowing only those with approved business with the Lumos Circle or students of Astralreach Academy.
  • The Ridge Ward is a middle-income region, beginning on the lower slopes of Solithar's Spire. This region is home to experienced craftsmen, higher quality merchants, and some lower titled nobility of the empire. More organized and dense than the Cobble Ward, this region is more middle-class and higher, with less foot traffic and more organized movement of Goldguard
  • The Cobble Ward is the lower-income region, located at the base of the city. This region is more spread out around the bottom of the mountain, with wide, winding streets and whole regions of naturally formed groups (residential districts, merchant districts, manufacturing districts, etc.) 60-70% of the populace of Sedesend lives here, and this is the ward which has expanded outward several times in the city's history

Summit Ward Locations:

Citadel: The highest point in Sedesend, the Citadel is the royal palace, the seat of Emperor Isaac Olessar III's power. The Citadel is also host to the Lumos Circle council chambers, where matters of political import are settled every day.
