Kai Mackay is the grandchild of M.E. Mackay, though they were not raised in Ernest Point. After their parents got married, they moved to Midiston where Kai was raised as a socialite. They spent most of their life raised this way, but by the time they turned 14, they begged their parents to let them transfer schools, for them to live with their grandfather back in Ernest Point. They wanted to learn their true legacy, the one that their great-grandfather created for his branch of the family tree. They gave them a dry run, spending the whole summer with their grandfather, and Kai loved it, and M.E. was glad to have them to help out around the house and such. So when it came time for them to enroll in high school, they enrolled into the public school district under their mother's maiden name.

They were educated amongst their peers of all classes, they attended SUNY Ernest Point for an associate's degree in Criminal Justice, then joining the police academy. They decided to become a cop to fulfil the same thing their family had been doing for generations, improving the cities they lived in for the better. They worked hard, and they refused to use their family name until they got the promotion to detective, they didn't want anyone to think that the only reason they go to where they were was purely because of the Mackay family name.

Appearance

Kai Mackay looks like the spitting image of their cousin, Arielle Mackay, when she was their age. They have the same soft face shape with sharp cheekbones and a smattering of light freckles across their pale skin. They have the same pale blue eyes that go from kind to stern at the flip of a coin, and they both have the same reddish brown hair. Kai, however, is much shorter, standing only at about 5’3, and their hair is short and pushed forward held by luck and good genetics. They wear very nice clothing, almost always a button down shirt and tie, suit vest and pants, with a very stylish overcoat befitting of the current weather. They carry their badge on their hip while on duty, and have their standard issue sidearm holstered on their back with a smaller calibre firearm strapped to their ankle.
