Hlam was a reclusive hermit who lived in a cave in the southern cliff face of Mt Waterdeep. He was regarded as an oracle, and sometimes consulted by Blackstaff Vajra Safahr.
As grand-master of the Order of the Even-Handed, he occasionally took up prospective students, who typically did not return for a second session of training.
In the past Hlam had assisted Reverend Judge Oleff Uskar as he presided over the Hall of Justice in Neverwinter. Hlam's duties included training those who worshiped Tyr in both the fields of justice and marshal ability.
When Renaer Neverember consulted Hlam about his mother's locket, and what was hidden inside, he provided the following wisdom:
