Among other tribes, the Mithlasse clan was targeted by the Thalmor, as an enemy of the Aldmeri Dominion and set to be purged. Many were lost, but Sindariel Mithlasse got his core family away from Valenwood and onto a ship bound for the island of Khenarthi's Roost. While still part of the Dominion's sought-after territories, they felt it would be an isolated enough place that the Thalmor would not comb every stretch of the land looking for them.
