The Ranger Arcanist merges their weapons with arcane energy, granting themselves new abilities. Their weapons afflict their opponents with the Arcanist's Mark and they have learned how to cast some Wizard spells as part of their Ranger spell repertoire.
Ranger Arcanist Spellcasting
Starting at 3rd level, you learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class. Each spell counts as a Ranger spell for you but does not count against the number of spells you know. These spells are:
- Level 3: Shield
- Level 5: Misty Step
- Level 9: Haste
- Level 13: Dimension Door
- Level 17: Hold Monster
Additionally, you are proficient at casting spells in battle and may cast spells that require a somatic component even if both your hands are holding weapons or a shield.
Arcanist's Mark
Starting at 3rd level, when you take this subclass, you can imbue your weapons with arcane power. Creatures that are hit by your attacks are afflicted by the Arcanist's Mark.
When you hit a creature that has your Arcanist's Mark with a weapon attack, the mark detonates, dealing 1d6 force damage and destroying the mark.
Arcane Pulse
Starting at 7th level, you can cause an eruption of arcane energy at a target location anywhere within a range of 30 feet, that you can see. Hostile creatures within 15 feet of the targeted location must make a Wisdom Saving Throw. On a failure, they take 3d8 force damage and gain an application of your Arcanist's Mark. On a success, they take half as much damage and are not afflicted by the Arcanist's Mark. You may use this ability a number of times equal to your Wisdom Modifier. Once all uses of this ability are expended, you must complete a long rest before you may use this ability again.
Arcane Detonation
Starting at 11th level, the damage from your Arcanist's Mark increases to 2d6.
Greater Arcane Pulse
Starting at 15th level, the damage from Arcane Pulse increases to 6d8.
