Imperial Septims

Founded by the Septim Dynasty, the Septim was a form of currency used throughout the Third Tamrielic Empire founded by Tiber Septim. They still saw use throughout the 4th Era in territories that had once been part of the Empire but lost some credibility with the rise of the Aldmeri Dominion, led by the Thalmor, and was replaced in large quantities by Dominion Marks.

Worth 10 Gold Septims, the Platinum Septim was only seen in use by those of high rank and rapport throughout the Empire. It was a later addition to the Septim denominations and bore the face of Tiber Septim at first, but after the events of the Oblivion Crisis, a tribute was given to putting the face of Martin Septim, on its face.

The Major Denomination of the Septim Currency. It was valued equally to the gold of major forms of currency within the Empire in years prior.

The Standard Gold Septim bore the face of Tiber Septim on it, with the Imperial Dragon on the backside of the coin.

Introduced during a major upheaval in the realms of taxes and paying the workers of the Empire, this denomination of the Septim was valued at half a gold and bore the face of Pelagius III Septim, otherwise known as Pelagius the Mad.Worth one tenth of a gold, this coin has been in circulation for as long as the gold. While it originally bore the face of Tiber Septim as well, it was changed to bear the face of Uriel V Septim in honor of his exploration into the eastern seas. Even though his expedition into Akavir was a failure, he was still credited with adding several islands to the territories of Tamriel and the Empire.Valued at one tenth of a silver, this coin also originally bore the face of Tiber Septim. However, it was eventually changed to show the face of Uriel VII Septim, the last Emperor of the Septim Dynasty.

At one point, Potema Septim, daughter of Pelagius II Septim, was on the warpath to become Emperess. The conflict pit her against her own brothers. Her son would become a short-lived Emperor, but she would never attain her goal. Nevertheless, more than a few Potema coins were minted, with her face on every coin, to try and push for funding and support for her goal. The problem was, she was very vocal and open about her opinions which included the fact that she would trade lives for mere comforts. Some of her coins are still out there in the world, worth much more now as collectibles than they were ever worth in her efforts to wrest control of the Empire for herself.
