The Hidden Twilight

The origins of this book are more vague than the rest of the books. For this reason, it is deemed one of the more dangerous and influential of all the books. The book leads a person through a realm of stacks of books and platforms of stored scrolls, soul gems, and other such items. This book introduces the reader to and hints at the vastness of Mora's power.

Wondrous Item, Rare

If you spend 24 hours over a period of 3 days or fewer studying the book's contents you can choose to learn one of the following abilities:

Mora's Agony:

Gain Access to a spell-like ability called Mora's Agony.

Once per day, within 150 ft., you can, with an action, call forth pools of dark water in a 20 ft. radius area. There is space for a creature to walk through and between these pools. The area becomes difficult terrain for anyone passing through it, needing to take careful movement so as to not fall into the seemingly bottomless dark water. When a creature moves into or through any space of this area, they are hit by tentacles emerging from the dark water for 2d4 bludgeoning damage for each 5 ft. space traveled.

The tentacles are hidden in the water and any creature unfamiliar with Hermaeus Mora would be unaware of the danger. Any creature that does not witness the tentacles before they are concealed within the pools again must make a Wisdom (Perception) check against your spell save DC to recognize the terrain as hazardous before entering it.

Mora's Boon:

Once per day, you may supplement your power with that of Hermaeus Mora. When you do so, you recover 20 HP. If this would take you above your maximum HP, you are simply brought back to max HP. Additionally,  you have one expended spell slot restored of a level no higher than 5th level.

Mora's Grasp:

Gain access to a spell-like ability called Mora's Grasp.

Once per day, the spirits of Apocrypha congregate around a target of your choosing for a duration of 1 minute. They grasp and cling to the target and, for the duration, drag the target into a pocket space partway between Apocrypha and the Prime Material Plane. While in this pocket space, the target is considered Intangible and cannot affect or be effected by anyone.

You are considered concentrating on this effect, as if concentrating on a spell, calling the spirits of Apocrypha into this state by your will. If Dispel Magic is cast, the DC is determined as if this were a 3rd level spell.
