Class Groups

Each Class is a member of a Class Group; a set of Classes that have certain features and themes shared between them. The Class Groups list shows the different groups and summarizes the characteristics that the members of each group have in common.

A Class Group has no rules in itself, but prerequisites and other rules can refer to these groups. For example, only members of the Mage Group might be able to attune to a particular magic item, or a Feat might be available only to members of the Warrior Group. When creating a party of adventurers, one way to form a well-rounded group is to include at least one member of each Class Group.

Additionally, all spell lists are re-organized into three different spell lists, instead of class-specific spell lists.

  • Any spell previously listed as a Wizard, Warlock, or Sorcerer spell is now unified together as an Arcane Spell List and is now available to all three of those classes, as well as their fellow Mage Class; Witch, and the Expert Class; Artificer.
  • Any spell previously listed as a Cleric, Paladin, or Priest spell is now unified together as a Divine Spell List and is now available to all three of those classes.
  • Any spell previously listed as a Ranger or Druid spell is now unified together as a Primal Spell List and is now available to both of these classes.
  • Non-full Caster classes (i.e. Eldritch Knight Fighter, Arcane Trickster Rogue, Profane Soul Blood Hunter, etc.) gain access to the respective unified lists.
