You exhale black flame toward a target creature of your choice within range. Make a ranged spell attack. On a hit, the target is engulfed in numbing black flames and becomes poisoned. The target must make a successful Constitution saving throw at the end of each of their turns for the duration, or gain 1 level of exhaustion for each failure. If the target makes three successful Constitution saves, the fire vanishes as soon as it came, and the target is no longer poisoned.
On the target’s turn, anyone adjacent to it must make a successful Dexterity saving throw or be engulfed in Amaterasu's wreathing black flames.
Anyone killed by Amaterasu is disintegrated (as if by the disintegrate spell). A disintegrated creature and everything it is wearing and carrying, except magic items, are reduced to a pile of fine gray dust. The creature can be restored to life only by means of a true resurrection or a wish spell.
When not applied to a creature, Amaterasu's flames are said to burn for seven days and seven nights, but the black flame will not spread as normal fire would, instead remaining still, like an eternal light.
