Cinnabar Keep is a bustling industrial circle ruled by the magnanimous but capricious Gobannus, Arkanum of the Forge. The terrain is hazardous volcanic land, riddled with caves, lava flows, and unusual wildlife. With the power of steam and geothermal energy, however, its people enjoy a surprisingly high quality of life (though it's higher for some than others.)
Politically, the circle is divided into a myriad of company towns, each owned by a corporation and represented by a Baron, though their internal power structures vary from feudal to democratic. Gobannus values innovation above all else, and believes in competition as its source, but he is not content to let the free hand of the market alone decide the fate of his circle-- he plays an active role in regulating the economy, and will take away the Barons' toys if he has to. This makes him an admired figure by most, but reviled by a crucial few.
Mining and manufacturing are the primary economic activities of this circle, though its fertile volcanic soil supplies plenty of food for its citizens, with a little room for specialty exports like peppers and tomatoes. The calendar revolves around the fiscal year, with a Cinnabar Expo marking the start of each quarter and a week-long Zenit Festival at the end of the year, when taxes are due.
