Elivalor's father, Wilhelm, has been wandering and hiding from Elias Drexel and his mercenary groups since his entire family was murdered during the Civil War. Before that time, he met, fell in love with, and married an Elven noble. The marriage was kept secret until Eli was born. Sara performed their wedding, was present at Eli's birth, and was his friend as he grew up. When Wilhelm lost his eye in a duel with Elias Drexel, he was presumed dead. He witnessed his wife's entire family burned alive in their stronghold in the Actungwald. He has been living with Rudi Whittaker in the village of Tierhaven. Recruited by the Amethyst Academy, along with Rudi and Wrath, to address the growing Delerium problem in Westemär, they have been traveling together as the Dusk Wardens. Wilhelm is the only surviving member of the family of Duke Mannfred von Kessel, brother of King Ulrich von Kessel IV. He has not yet revealed his heritage to the Dusk Wardens or to the world at large.
Wilhelm gave his live so that Eli could become king with a clean slate as described in Session 28 - Return of the King and Session 29 - The Sacrifice
