Tellewenhyr

Tellewenhyris the language spoken in the kingdom of Tellewen, as well as many Mallouhide Kingdoms

Inspiration/Style:

Tellewenhyr is mainly inspired by the languages of Old English and Frisian. However, it is given a Welsh-like twist. The goal is for Tellewenhyr to sound like a Welsh-like Germanic language. You may notice that Tellewenhyr words are longer than their English counterparts. This is because Tellewenhyr is the language of a scholarly nation. Like German, Tellewenhyr has many long words that convey more specific meanings, unlike Chinese, which has fewer words, requiring many words to describe complex things.

Male Voice - The Lord's Prayer

Translations:

Man: Good Morning, Fair Lady. How fare you this day?

Woman: Fine Meeting good sir. I fare well enough, though the fields are hard and the winds are harsh.

Man: Yes, Tis, true. The autumn's work is tiring, do you need help with your chores?

Woman: A thousand thanks, good sir. If you could help with the water buckets, I would be very grateful.

Man: I'd be happy to help, as the well is far and the burden is heavy.

Woman: You are a good man. Perhaps after our work we can rest under the shade of the old oak yonder.

Man: Yes, that would be a welcome rest. The shade and a drink will ease our weariness

Woman: Forsooth, and we might share stories of old and dreams of tomorrow

Man: So it is, Come, let us go to the well, then to the oak.
