A group of scavengers and weapon hungry brutes, the Crimson Jackals are known for their brutality and ferocity as guerilla fighters. They are often the ones who are paid off to protect settlements or certain businesses. While their means are questionable, their capability is undeniable, and their reputation runs true. While they have frequently held the most territory, they are currently in control over most of Ezeth since the fall of the Silver Watch, including both Barren Sands and Crookstone. They have held the latter city for longer however, and while they have loyal members all throughout the desert, their influence is most visible in Crookstone, as that's where Nathanael, leader of the Crimson Jackals, primarily works from, and doles out orders.
Though their nature is chaotic and they are known for their brutality, those in Crookstone have little reason to quarrel with them, as they're frequently tied in with the city guards, and as long as they're given their dues, the common folk have nothing to fear. They are more visible in the city, at least, than the Order of the Phoenix Rose, who keep more to their own. The guards do however, tend to look away whenever altercations happen and one of the Jackals causes trouble, as it could cost them their job, or worse.
The gang does tend to keep its nose out of the upper district and parts of the market district, focusing much of their efforts on the lower city. They do frequently clash with the Thieves' Guild in Crookstone, as their interests aren't quite aligned, and the main draw of the Thieves' Guild is those who want to subvert the gangs, though in truth, many of them work for both, attempting to game the system. It's hardly ideal for anyone involved that isn't a Jackal, financially affluent, or friends with all the right people, but no one power seems to maintain control of any one city or region for long, as power shifts just as easily as sand.
