After finding the kidnapped samurai in Slow Tide Harbor , the ronin Gaku was seemingly felled by maho as he was in the process of speaking a name. The only thing heard was "Kitsu Sok..."
Akodo Tadashi attended the interrogation of the ronin he had dueled and disarmed on the boat, attempting to find out more information about who Gaku's boss was. The ronin, however, had no knowledge of such a person even existing. As far as he knew, Gaku was working on his own.
Later investigations brought up a number of names within the Kitsu that might match.
After a murder in Musume Mura that seemed to be connected to maho, the primary suspect (a woman described as having "odd, knobbly hair") was thought to be a reappearance of the mysterious maho-tsukai. Evidence suggested that she may have left town on a ship, the Shokaku, that had set sail two days earlier.
