Amaunator was the Faerûnian pantheon's lawful neutral intermediate deity of the sun itself as well as its influence in providing celestial order and in the passage of time. He was viewed as a harsh but fair deity, revered by many rulers,
soldiers, and powerful wizards. At the onset of The Time of Troubles, Amauantor became mysteriously silent, causing many followers to fear that he had been destroyed. Many of these followers flocked to the worship of Lathander, although there is debate amongst sages and clerics whether Amauantor and Lathander may be aspects of the same god.
