Hill Dwarves, also known as Gold Dwarves, live in southern Faerûn in and around the region of The East Rift. They were aloof, confident, and proud, particularly because the first great dwarven nations were all founded and built by Gold Dwarves. However, Gold Dwarf society has fallen considerably from its height. Only a few, small, isolated Hill Dwarf communities still because almost all Gold Dwarf homelands were destroyed during The Spellplague when The Great Rift collapsed into The Underdark, forming The Underchasm.
