Pan Flutes are somewhat related to the common longhorn. They consisted of a series of hollow tubes of different lengths, all vertical, that were fastened together in a row from smallest to largest.

This instrument is played by blowing across the tops of its pipes, as well as moving them from side to side to play different notes. They produce a sweet, rippling, rich sound that is said to be capable of charming ferocious animals.
