Centaurs are an extremely misunderstood species who are largely considered bestial monstrosities by many humans. They are, in fact, an extremely ancient species who have roamed Toril for tens of thousands of years, originating in a verdant, vibrant homeland that was eventually swallowed by Thay. The largest population of centaurs still exists in Thay as a source of slave labor or as slavers themselves. Outside of Thay, most centaurs live in large forests, living and working very closely with elven inhabitants.
