Vortek was a neutral evil demigod of deception and torment that wreaked havoc over the world many years ago. His symbol was usually depicted as a demonic face appearing in a mist of blood.
Vortek once acted in service to Batrax. Long ago Vortek caused much bloodshed by orchestrating a war between the kingdoms of Caldenvald and Utesh-Verik, but was sealed into seven artifacts with the assistance of the demigod Shalde, listed as follows:

- Essence of Zhaal
- Tongue of Istvhal
- Discordant Horn
- Unyielding Flame
- Farseeker's Eye
- Blood of Batrax
On the spot where Vortek was defeated, the Monastery of the Mending Palm was formed, as per an agreement between Shalde and the orc and human kingdoms.
