Kalkot Effintuff was a gnomish mercenary from the Alvenweir, a gnomish city built into a dam in the Deadmarch. He was a friend of the adventuring party the Peas, and played an integral part in the Battle for the Sun, where he lost his life. Kalkot was ridiculously buff for a gnome.
Description
Kalkot was an average-height gnome with pointed ears and green eyes, which were generally pointed into a stern scowl. He had a thick head of greying hair, and a thick beard. The arms of his shirt were ripped off to reveal his burgeoning musculature. He wore a very nice silk tie, and carried a set of 4 hand axes on his back, one of which was covered in glowing runes.
Kalkot was a man of few words, often only speaking up when his anger spilled over. He seemed to enjoy violence, but was vigilantly committed to his current assignment. He appeared to do whatever he felt like in the moment.
Skills and Abilities
Kalkot was unnaturally powerful, especially for a gnome, due to his exposure to the ley line magic. He was also skilled with axes and crossbows.
After being exposed to ley magic a second time, Kalkot's became supernaturally buff, and was basically a mass of muscle and power.
History
Kalkot was caught in an explosion of ley energy in his youth while on a mercenary job. This made his body unusually capable of building muscle mass.
At some point, Selathwin Muleyr scouted him to join her expedition into the Isles of Wrath. Kalkot rode on the ship alongside the Peas, helping defend it against the many horrors of the turbulent seas. Kalkot was a reliable source of power, and was a pretty good lookout. Kalkot lost touch with the Peas while making through the Pillars of Iron on Slaghead Island, but met up with them later at the Temple of the Earth.
When Selathwin tasked her party into gathering ley resonances, Kalkot visited a ley intersection in the Free Lands. After successfully completing his mission, Kalkot was further exposed to ley magic by Selathwin, making him even more powerful and muscly.
During the Battle for the Sun, Kalkot's help was instrumental in holding back the encroaching horde of Jylurm's beasts. However, as the harsh days of battle passed, the injuries began to overtake the gnome, and he eventually fell into the sea. His corpse was rescued by the demigod Shalde, but he was unable to be resurrected due to a lack of materials, much to the dismay of Tyerjon, who had built a rapport with the gnome. Like many of the corpses rescued by Shalde, Kalkot's corpse was taken to Madrioc, but was among the bodies that mysteriously disappeared.
Kalkot's sacrifice was honored in a memorial built in Madrioc.
